Travertine Springs in The Cedars, Sonoma County
The following web pages have been compiled by Jason Altekruse, Nik Huerta, Kate D. Krug, Naomi Marks, Lara O’Dwyer, Jessica Oster, Liselle Batt and Kathryn Rose, under the guidance of Dr. Peter Schiffman and Dr. Robert Zierenberg.

We are a group of graduate students from the Department of Geology at University of California, Davis. We undertook a course-based project with the purpose of experiencing a wide range of instrumental techniques used in geological investigations. Field work as well as follow-up laboratory work and data analysis were included in our techniques. The field area was chosen so that the samples would facilitate analysis from several varied techniques.

Field work was conducted on September 29th, 2004. At this time, we collected both rock and water samples from The Cedars, Sonoma County and our research was hence based on examining the active travertine springs in The Cedars.
