• Page 31. The largest bacterium. Bacteria are almost always smaller than eukaryotes. But evolution and natural selection don't pay attention to the generalizations that humans use to describe the real world. You can't always trust size! The largest bacterium ever discovered was described in 1999, Thiomargarita namibiensis. Here are some news articles:
