I date (determine the age of) rocks...stars...and planets....

Why should the general public be interested in what you do?
The age of the Earth, the Sun and the Universe are central questions for mankind.

Why does it interest you?
To share the excitement of discovery, the exhilaration of holding a piece of rock in my hand and being able to unlock part of mother nature’s well-guarded secrets with a modern instrument. It gives me a sense of where we come from and how we relate to the great planet we are an inseparable part of.

What major advances/discoveries have occurred in your research field over the last 10 years?
It took ~30 million years to assemble planet Earth. There are many planets out there. Chances of finding Earth-like planets are just around the corner.
