Environmental geochemistry of mineral deposits. Current research includes multi-disciplinary investigation of mercury contamination and bioaccumulation in the Sierra Nevada associated with historical gold mining; trace metals and colloid transport in surface waters; acid mine drainage; efflorescent sulfate minerals; application of stable and radiogenic isotopes to environmental problems.
